Tourist route "Garga dere":

The initial point of the rout is 6,3 km away from the village of Smilyan on the road meandering through the beautiful valley of Arda River. The route starts with a passage along a mountain path, most of which passes along the right bank of the picturesque Garga Dere, crosses it and after only 50 m along the left bank you reach the entrance of the Golubovitza Cave 2. It is a water cave with underground lakes and a stream. Under the professional leading and with the help of the guides from Mursalitza Club* and after you have been equipped with the special equipment, you are ready to penetrate into the cave. On your way out, if you like you can try you skills in the rock scramble and climbing down the 15 m long slope, connecting the entrances of Golubovitza 1 and Golubovitza 2. The guides will acquaint you and demonstrate in front of you the basic techniques of the rock scramble. They will provide the necessary special safeguarding equipment for the tourists. Golubovitza 1 will surprise you with its diversity of secondary cave formations – stalactites, etc. And this is not the last surprise. Not far from here a trolley , prepared by the Club, is waiting for you. The trolley is an alpine rope-way - 45 m long, connecting the two slopes of Garga Dere. The adventurers, who have dared to fly 20 m above the ground over the water, will surely remember the unique sensation forever. The adventure addicts can continue with a passage along the picturesque canyon of Garga Dere to Garvanyovitza Cave which is an hour and a half away walking upstream. The cave will impress you with its unusual whiteness – a result of stratifying of the “cave milk”, characteristic for the opening stage of the cave formations.
